r3kt: an intro

A new year starts with hope. Or it's supposed to, anyway.

Two weeks into day trading as a (relative) beginner, it's looking promising: over 50% up on a decent sum of money and I'm starting to think of how long it will be before I quit my day job.

That was before the 15th.

On the 15th I took a series of trades, making decisions in short spaces of time with no real thought. You've heard of the magic of compounding - well, this was dark magic.

All the gains I'd built up over the last fortnight vanished in a day. The end position:

The hope that the new year started with vanished as quickly as it arrived.

Naturally, I was disappointed in myself but I knew it could have been so much worse. 3.8% is still a far sight better than what a traditional bank account will yield for a whole year!

So...now what?

I've never made those kind of returns before so I knew I couldn't just leave it.

It's time to get serious:-

r3kt is the initiation of a trading story that will serve as a reflective and educational tool to improve my day trading capabilities.
